At its core, a draft in Orgvue is simply a list of proposed changes. Drafts are always viewed in the context of a dataset and must be opened over a dataset that shares the same structure (i.e. the same property listing) as the one it was originally created from.
How Drafts Display Changes
A draft only displays a change if that change differs from the current value in the dataset it’s opened with.
If the draft’s value matches the dataset’s value, such as when a draft has been imported into that dataset, the change is no longer shown.
This behaviour has a few important implications:
- A draft may appear empty, even though it contains changes.
- The visible changes in a draft may vary depending on which dataset it’s opened over, even if both datasets share the same structure.
- Importing a draft into a dataset can lead to unintended results if the visible changes were reviewed without full awareness of underlying differences.
Viewing All Data in a Draft
Currently, Orgvue does not provide a built-in way to view all the data contained in a draft at once.
However, you can use this workaround to surface the full contents of a draft:
- Create a Save As copy of a dataset with the same structure.
- In the new copy, clear all property values, except for the Auto ID property.
- Open the draft over this blank dataset copy.
- All changes in the draft will now appear clearly in the Changes Report slide.
