The Changes Report provides immediate impact analysis to see the net effect of planned changes. You can specify which measures are reported for the whole organization and your chosen subgroups.
Understand how planned changes impact the size, cost, structure of the organization:
- If you are modelling with a Dataset, the Report is based on changes made since the last save. The content is reset when the Dataset is saved.
- If you are modelling with a Draft, the Report is based on every change made since the Draft was created. See Reverting data changes (and appreciating Drafts)
Add a Changes Report to your pack:
- Select the ‘Add Slide’ Icon
- Select the ‘Changes Report’ Slide type
The default (below) shows
- Records (CNT). The count of records (i.e. Headcount as every position has a value of 1 for the ‘Records’ property);
- The 'As-Is' total: Headcount before any changes were made (381 in this example);
- The ‘To-be’ total: Headcount taking account of changes (381 in this example);
- ‘Net change’: The ‘To-be’ total minus the ‘As-is’ total (-8 in this example).
Customise the slide content to show required measures split by subgroups
Add measures as columns
The example below shows a total sum for the ‘Salary’ property being added to measure the changing cost of the workforce.
- Select the ‘Slide’ tab.
- Expand the ‘Columns’ option.
- Select the ‘Add Property’ icon.
- Search for the required property.
- Select the ‘>’ icon the required property.
- Select the required operation.
When the checkmark is added at step 8, the As-is, ‘to-be’ and ‘Net Change columns are added to the slide.
Tip: Drag and drop the order of properties in the Slide Pane to change the order of columns.
Add subgroups as rows
- Ensure the ‘Slide’ tab is selected.
- Expand the ‘Rows’ option.
- Select the ‘Add Property’ icon.
- Search for the required property.
- Select the required property.
When the checkmark is added (13 above), the rows are added to the slide:
Tips:
- The generated property 'Level 2" is often used as the row property to see the impact of changes on the reporting lines of each CEO direct report.
- Add additional Row properties to provide additional subgroup detail.
- Use generated properties to calculate measures (e.g. average ‘span’)
The full range of calculation options available at step 8 are:
- CNTD Measures the number of distinct (unique) values
- AVG: Measures the mean average of values.
- SUM: Measures the sum total of values.
- MIN: Measures the lowest value.
- MAX: Measures the highest value.
- RNG: Measures the range between the MIN and MAX values.
- CNT: Measures the number of nodes included in the roll-up.
