This article provides a step-by-step guide to create a Crosstab slide with cells split to show further subgroup values.
In this example, the number of employees in each Function at each Grade level is shown, split by Gender. If you have seen how to See a count of Records split by subgroup categories with a Crosstab, you can save time by skipping to point 6, below.
The explanation assumes you know how to add a slide and specify the Crosstab slide type (see Analyze and visualize across multiple categories with Crosstabs).
- Ensure the Slide pane is selected
- Select the properties which define the subgroup categories required for your
- Columns (in this example, Function is selected), and
- Rows (in this example, Grade is selected)
- By default, the count of Records is selected for the Values.
You can specify the order of Columns and Rows. The default order is ascending bucket label order, either numeric or alphabetic depending on the type of property used. In this example, we will reverse the Row order to present the grades in descending order, showing the higher value (more senior) grades at the top:
- Select the cog for either the Row or the Column setting (in this example, the Row settings)
- Specify required Sort option (in this example, “By Bucket reversed”)
- Expand the ‘Color by’ option
- Select “Prop.”
- Select the property used to split cell values. (in this example, “Gender” is used)
- Select your preferred color palette
- Select the Legend icon to display the legend on your slide
