Specifying ‘Required’ properties

When properties are flagged as ‘Required’, users are prompted to enter a value when a node (e.g. a position) is added. 

When using hierarchical datasets, the default is for the ID and Label property to be ‘Required’.  This is shown below where a position is being added and the dataset contains no additional ‘Required’ properties:


Admins, Dataset Owners and Users with ‘Modify’ Dataset Permission can specify ‘Required’ properties:

• Open ‘Manage Properties’ from Workspace or Settings

1. Select the property to be ‘Required’ (Function in this example)
2. Select the ‘Values’ tab
3. Check the ‘Required’ option
4. Select ‘Save’

Users are now prompted to specify the Function when a new position being created:

Note: 

• Users can proceed to create a node without entering a value for a require property.
• A Position ID is automatically generated if not entered
• Parent ID is also a default ‘Required’ property, but not included on the ‘Create’ window
