Talent Selection – often referred to as Talent Slating – is the process of transitioning people in the current organization to positions in the modelled, future organization. The solution also includes tracking the management of an exit process for employees who do not have a position in the future organization. Talent Selection can be a highly complex process due to the pattern of many-to-many relationships across the organization: many employees can be in consideration for a single position, and a single employee can be in consideration for many positions.
Many-to-many relationships
This complexity often needs to be managed in time-pressured contexts and there are multiple potential sources of risk:
- Transformation risk if committed targets and timelines are not met;
- Operational risk if critical positions are not appropriately resourced;
- Litigation risk if due process cannot be demonstrated, or if there have been unintended consequences in terms of team DEI composition or the profile of exited employees.
Orgvue’s solution for Talent Selection manages this complexity through People-to-Positions links, with people linked to positions according to their Selection Stage. The number of selection stages, and the definition of these stages can be customized to align with established internal processes and terminology.
Selection Stages
With this framework in place, you get immediate insight based on the decisions which have been taken:
- The overall status of the process for every position to be resourced and every employee in the process.
- At the individual level, the detail showing every employee in consideration for each position and all the positions an employee is in consideration for.
In addition, the impact of appointments can immediately be visualized:
- At the team and sub-group level in terms of team DEI composition
- For individual employees, for example, where an employee has been appointed to a position at a different grade, or in an different location.
This solution is configured for each organization's individual requirements through the engagement of Orgvue's Advisory Team.
