Organization Dimensions Story Pack – Orgvue Knowledge Base

Pack description

The Organization Dimensions Story Pack provides insight to understand the distribution of people or positions across key organization dimensions.

In addition, you can see distribution of people or positions across grade levels.

To gain the expected insight, your dataset should include at least one functional, geographic, business unit or grade property.

With this pack you can address questions such as:

What is the total headcount of the organization?
What is the headcount distribution across functional departments, geographic locations, business units and grade levels?
Are there anomalies in the organization structure such as
- High-grade positions located at low layers of the organization?
- Functional employees outside their expected reporting lines?

Template packs are provided to get your analysis started: you can change existing slides and create additional slides to customize your analysis.

In Workspace, select the dataset you want to use (if necessary, see Accessing Datasets and Packs).

Select ‘Analyze the size, cost, composition and structure of the organization’ under “What do you want to do?”. Select the ‘Organization Dimensions Story Pack’ icon. Select 'Next'.

If dataset property mapping is complete you will have the option to select ‘Open’.
If dataset property mapping is not complete, and if you have dataset edit rights, you will have the option to select ‘Next’.

If necessary, you can change previously mapped properties. For more information, see Property Mapping in Template Packs explained.

When 'Next' has been selected:

Map the properties in your dataset which correspond to the functional, geographic, business unit and grade dimensions to be reported in the pack. You do not need to use all four dimensions, any which are not needed can be left unmapped. The recommended actions for unmapped properties are outlined at the end of this guide.

If there are dimensions which have not been mapped, we recommend the following actions which can be taken when the pack is open:

Removing the standard slides relating to these dimensions (see Remove slides you don’t need).
Removing properties from cards which reference these dimensions (see Remove properties from cards).
Removing the unmapped properties from slide paging options (see Specify which properties are used for Paging).
