This article explains how to add nodes to a Pinboard Collection, then use Collections in slides.
This is beneficial when:
- You need to create subgroups which can't be identified using Pages and Filters: ‘slicing and dicing’ the organization using property values doesn't get to the required positions.
- You need to ‘park’ nodes for later follow-up.
Create and add nodes to a Collection
- Select the 'Pinboard' icon.
- Select 'Create collection'.
- Drag nodes to the pinboard drop zone; multiple nodes can be selected by holding down the keyboard Shift Key.
- Enter a name for the Collection (in this example, 'Regrade positions' is entered).
Create additional Collections
- Select the 'Pinboard' icon shown at step 1, above.
- Select ‘Create collection’.
- Drag positions to the drop zone.
- The example below shows a subgroup within a Crosstab cell being dragged; the three positions included in the count are added to the Collection.
- Enter a name for the Collection.
Applying the Pinboard
‘Pinboard’ can be used in the same way as generated properties (it is a property which can be added to slides, but values cannot be edited). Each defined Collection is a value for the 'Pinboard' property. The illustration below shows ‘Pinboard’ being used to (a) Page, (b) Filter, and (c) and colour the worksheet showing position-level detail.
In this example, we now have a worksheet filtered to show the positions needing to be regraded. This content can be exported and shared with colleagues to provide the required advice (see Exporting calculated measures presented in slides).
Remove nodes from Collections and remove Collections from the Pinboard
- Select the ‘Pinboard’ icon
- Depending on your requirement, select either:
- the Collection to be removed from the Pinboard; or
- the node to be removed from a Collection.
- Select the icon to remove:
- the Collection from the Pinboard; or
- the node from the Collection.
