A Draft provides a safe space for editing data without changing the underlying data. A Draft is always used with a Dataset or a View.
Admins, Dataset Owners, and users can create Drafts from the Datasets or Views they have access to.
When a Draft is used:
- Any changes since the creation of the Draft can be reverted.
- The content of Changes Report slides and Changes List slides is based on all changes since the Draft was created.
How to create a Draft
A Draft can be created:
- By selecting ‘Draft’ as the option when saving data.
- From Workspace home with the datasets tab selected.
- When a View is being created (See Creating a View).

- View the Draft (‘Read-only’)
- ‘Modify’ the Draft
- ‘Manage’ the Draft
Note:
- Users will not be able to access the Draft without being granted Permissions.
- User Groups entered here must exactly match the names of the User Groups applied for User Management in Settings.
- See Orgvue data security for an overview of permission levels and User Groups
- Specify whether users with ‘Modify’ permission can:
- Add Nodes
- Delete Nodes
- Modify Property values
- Select ‘Create Draft’.
The Draft can now be seen in Workspace:
- In the Card view, on the card of the Dataset it was created from; and
- In the List view.
Note:
- A Draft can be used with different Datasets.
- When a Draft is selected from the Workspace Homepage (shown above)
- the underlying data to be used is selected, then
- a new pack can be created, or an existing pack can be opened
