How do I work with a secondary hierarchy?
The hierarchy of your Orgvue dataset is generated based on the ID and Parent ID properties. These are created initially when you upload your dataset for the first time. While you can only have one hierarchy active at a time, your dataset may contain multiple hierarchies which you want to visualise. There are several ways to work with multiple hierarchies in Orgvue.
In any of your slides you can choose which ‘Parent by’ field you want to use. Changing this value will update your hierarchy for the one slide only. When you change this setting, it does not update the hierarchy for any other slide in your pack. This change can also be saved to your pack. Please see the user guide for more details on changing the ‘Parent by’ option here.
TOP TIP – It is best practice to call out the fact that you have a different Parent by property in the title of your slide.
This can also be used to compare two hierarchies' side by side. To do this, create a multislide and choose two tree zones. In one of them change the parent by. Now you can see your two hierarchies' side by side.
