A key benefit of Orgvue is the ability to drill-down through the organization hierarchy. For example, with rolled up totals, you can rapidly move from seeing total values for the entire organization, then drill-down through leadership reporting lines, to individual teams and team members.
The ‘Expand To’ function specifies how many levels of the organization structure are shown on the canvas. When no positions are used to focus the view, the number of levels is calculated from the most senior position. In the example below, you can see ‘2 levels’ has been specified in the ‘Expand to’ box, and there are ‘0 focused’ positions. Therefore, only the cards for the CEO and the CEO’s direct reports are shown.
You can Focus on a specific reporting line by double-clicking a position. When Focus is applied, the number of layers is calculated from (including) this position. In the example below, the slide is set to “Expand to 3 levels”, and there is one position focusing the view (shown at the bottom). We can see the detail for an individual position by hovering over the card.
Note: When the Focus is being used, it is applied to all the slides in your pack.
Clear the focus by selecting ‘X’ in the ‘focused’ icon at the bottom of the page. The view will revert to the most senior position.
