This article explains how to create a new pack, showing a pack being created from scratch. Alternatively, you can create a pack using an Orgvue template for data cleaning and organizational analysis.
Reminder: Datasets and Packs are separate in Orgvue. In summary:
- Datasets contain your raw data in a series of rows and columns.
- Packs are collections of slides used to visualize, analyze, and edit your data.
- Datasets and Packs are used in combination: Any pack can be used with any compatible dataset.
- Log in to Orgvue
- Select ‘Workspace’ from the Menu.
Select the data required to populate your pack:
-
Select the “Datasets” tab;
- Select the Dataset you require; or
- Expand the card to select a View or a Draft which has been created with the dataset.
NOTE: If you do not have access to the full dataset, the card will be greyed-out; Option b will be required.
- Select New Pack.
- Select Next.
You can now choose to:
- Open an Orgvue template pack, or
- Create your own pack.
This example shows your own pack being created. Separate articles explain how to create a pack using Orgvue’s template packs for organizational analysis and for Data Cleaning.
- Select “Blank Template”.
- Select “Open”.
A new pack will open. The default is a Worksheet slide showing the Label for each Node. When you are working in a pack, the name of your pack (“a” below) and the dataset being used to populate your slides (“b” below) is shown. If the pack is being used with a View or a Draft, additional information will be shown alongside the Dataset name.
A separate article – Analysing and visualizing data with different slide types – explains the different slide types which can be added to your pack to analyze, visualise and edit your data.
