This article explains how changes saved in a Draft are imported to a Dataset.
Note:
- Importing Drafts requires Users to have at least ‘Update’ dataset permission. (Dataset permission levels are explained in Orgvue data security)
- Multiple Drafts can be imported to the same dataset, for example when different project teams have modelled different business areas in separate Drafts.
- Imported changes can be reverted until the Dataset is saved.
- A Draft contains changes made to the dataset it was created from. If a draft is imported into a different dataset it will only show applicable changes. For example if a position in the source dataset has been changed in the Draft, but this position does not exist in the dataset the Draft is being imported to, the change will not appear when the Draft is imported.
To import a draft, open a pack with the dataset you wish to import the draft into. In this example, changes will be imported to the ‘Future Org Model’ dataset.
As shown below, in this dataset there are:
- 381 nodes (positions);
- No unsaved changes.
- Select the ‘Modelling’ menu.
- Select ‘Import Draft’.
- Select the Draft containing changes to be imported
- Select ‘Apply’
After the Draft is applied:
- Unsaved dataset changes are indicated
- The effect of draft changes are included. In this example, the number of nodes (positions) is now 357.
- The number of changes is shown. The ‘changes’ icon can be used to revert changes until the dataset is saved.
After the data is saved:
- Changes cannot be reverted. The dataset has been updated based on the content of the imported Draft.
