This article explains how to apply a manager’s values to new positions which are added to the organization. Values which are generated are default values which can be over-written manually if necessary.
Important note: The expression provided below must be set to Run for New Nodes (Step 9, below). If this is not specified, your dataset will be compromised.
- Open ‘Manage Properties’ from Settings or Workspace
- From Settings:
- Select the requires dataset
- Select ‘…’
- Select ‘Manage properties’
- From Workspace:
- Select ‘Data’
- Select ‘Manage Properties’
- From Settings:
- Select the property which new positions will inherit values from their manager (function in this example).
- Select the ‘Property’ tab.
- Copy (CTRL+v) the Key for the property.
- Select the ‘Values’ tab.
- Select (check mark) ‘Populate values using an expression’.
- Select the arrow to expand the ‘Expression’ option.
- Paste the property key from step 4 into the following expression to replace the highlighted texr, then copy and paste the expression into the expression box.

- Select (check box) the cell for ‘New Nodes’ and ‘Pre-filtering’.
- Select ‘Save’.
- Select ‘Close’.
- Reload Orgvue.
- When Positions are added, the new position ‘inherits’ the value of the manager.
- The default value can be manually edited if required.
- Repeat the process for other properties as appropriate.
