Defining ‘Buckets’ for number properties

This article explains how to define 'buckets' for number properties for example to create age bands. 

Note: 

• Admins, Dataset Owners and Users with modify dataset permissions can create ‘buckets'.
• When buckets are created for a property, the underlying property values remain unchanged and can still be used to calculate – for example – sum totals and mean averages.

The chart below shows the number of Records (positions) across three automatically-generated Salary buckets.  These categories are insufficient for analysis with most positions in the 23K-100K bucket.

To define ‘Buckets’

• Open ‘Manage Properties’ from Workspace or Settings

1. Select the property to be ‘bucketed’ (Salary in this example)
2. Select the ‘Values’ tab
3. Select the arrow to expand the ‘Buckets’ option
4. Select the required approach (‘Create your own buckets' in this example)
5. Define the required buckets (select the ‘+’ icon to add a bucket)
6. Select ‘Save’
7. Close Manage Properties (if accessing this via Workspace)

8. Reload Orgvue (see below)

The chart is now presented with the defined salary bands:
