Preventing Microsoft Excel on European laptops from replacing decimal points with commas

Microsoft Excel on European laptops replaces decimal points with commas. Upon copying this data into OrgVue, values like '44,1' aren't recognised as numbers and so measures (such as Age) behave like dimensions.

Has anyone come across this and found a fix apart from reprogramming the user's laptop to be British?

Excel lets you adjust these settings using:

“Options->Advanced, in the first group "Editing options"
- Uncheck Use system separators.
- In the Decimal separator box write a dot
- In the Thousands separator box write a comma
- Press OK.

Slight correction for converting to British:

    • In the Decimal separator box write a dot
    • In the Thousands separator box write a comma
